Abdominal Doppler (Duplex)

Patient Information

Your doctor has ordered an Abdominal Duplex exam of your aorta and the blood vessels in your abdomen. This is a noninvasive, ultrasound test. The sonographer will put a cool gel on your abdomen and pass a transducer (probe) along your abdominal blood vessels. This is to evaluate the blood flow in your arteries, to determine if there are any blockages caused by a plaque build up, or to identify the presence and location of an aneurysm. This is a painless procedure, and there is no preparation.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment. If you need to reschedule your appointment, or if you have any questions, please feel free to call our office.
