Your doctor has ordered a Renal artery Duplex exam to evaluate the renal arteries for the presence of significant stenosis (blockage). This is a noninvasive, ultrasound test. The sonographer will put a cool gel on your abdomen and pass a transducer (probe) along your abdominal blood vessels. This is a painless procedure. Do not or drink after midnight, except for sips of water in the morning if you need to take medication.
